Bernard Thorens is Professor at the Center for Integrative Genomics of the University of Lausanne. He obtained a Ph.D in molecular immunology from the university of Geneva and did a postdoctoral fellowship at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Cambridge, USA, before joining the University of Lausanne as an assistant professor. His current work focuses on the study of brain glucose sensing in the control of glucose homeostasis and feeding behavior. He also investigates novel intracellular signaling pathways that control pancreatic beta-cell mass and function.
