Matthias Tschöp discovered major principles of gut-brain communication and translated these into novel therapeutics for diabetes and obesity. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director of Helmholtz Zentrum München and serves as Alexander von Humboldt Professor and Chair of Metabolic Diseases at the Technical University of Munich.
